i use to always get the shrimp quesadilla here when i was in college, but now really enjoy their shrimp tacos. both the salsa verde and gourmet shrimp tacos are great. i like how they have the bar where i can grab as many lime slices as i want and different sauces. the service is usually friendly and i never have to wait too long for my food. they make each item when it is ordered, so it's fresh. is it the most amazing place to get tacos ever? no, but for being in utah, with no access to the ocean, it's pretty good.

They weren't a disappointment but they also weren't great. I got a chicken burrito the chicken seemed fake. Higher quality than something you would get at McDonald's, but it didn't seem like normal chicken. The flavor was a little bland but not horrible. My boyfriend got beef tacos, they were awful. The tortilla was hard and dry. The meat was tough and flavorless. My son and I each got a cake pop. One was white so we assumed it was vanilla. Turns out it was carrot cake with a white frosting, it was not tasty. The inside of the restaurant was really pretty. They had nice decorations, a big fake palm tree inside, and pretty tables. The staff was really nice and patient. If someone wanted me to go there with them I would, but I wouldn't choose to go back on my own.

My five year old wanted a burrito after an afternoon of riding bikes on the Jordan River Parkway. We drove out of our way to this location just for her. When we arrived the three of us were greeted with "you can stay if you want but it will be at least 30 minutes before you get your food. We just had a huge rush." My wife and I look around and there are three tables seated, the rest are empty." This is 2:00pm on a Sunday. Fine, we left as the three of us were clearly not wanted there. I eat at the Rubio's on fourth south all the time during lunch hour and it is always packed. They never have trouble serving folks and serving them quickly. Button line: POOR MANAGEMENT at this location.

I like Rubio's. It satisfies me. Go know what to expect and I feel you'll be satisfied. Never a classy experience. But you get a salad that sits in your stomach like steak and potatoes, as in, it's VERY filling. If you've been to Cafe Rio or Chipotle you've been to Rubio's. Give it a shot if you want something a little better than your typical fast food.

I order some shrimp tacos and the only thing with a balance flavor was the beer everything else was under seasoned or over salty . do I recommend this place mm only if you want to pay for something that taste bad. :-)

I like this place they have an option for Vegans the grilled veggie burrito just omit the Chiptole sauce they said it has dairy, the cheese and it's all good! The salsa they have aren't spicy I find them all mild or medium but they are good.

Fish tacos, friends. That's the name of the game. Now before you go all, "Hey, but I'm from XX and there's this dude at the beach who does these amazing fish tacos," and annoy everyone around you, just realize that I probably agree with you. And the next time I'm at that beach I will be blown away by that dude's fish tacos. But unless California and Nevada fall into the Pacific (still waiting, doomsdayers - California was supposed to sink years ago but perhaps you were too busy preparing for Y2K to notice that it's still hanging on) Utah isn't on the beach. So perhaps the next best thing is to get some tacos from a dude who used to be on the beach. Ol' Ralph Rubio started on the beach and has now moved inland. With very few (but noteworthy) exceptions, this is where you go to get your fish taco action. Crispy batter, special sauce, salsa, cabbage, and off you go. On my most recent trip, I was treated to a couple of their new flavors. I dig me the original (especially since they went back to being hand-battered in the store) but I gotta say that the sesame soy was mighty tasty. We're talking about a hint of Asian flare--not quite teriyaki, but circling the neighborhood. Sadly, it's disappearing from the menu soon. I also got to give the avocado corn a taste and it was a close second. If fish tacos aren't your jam, gobble down one of their big burritos, salads, bowls, nachos, or quesadillas. They've also got a couple of veggie options (mushroom tacos, etc.) if you're not into the meat. Cruise the small salsa bar for a few basics. It's a beach atmosphere and there's plenty of seating here or outside on the small porch. I have it on good authority that they've been working hard on making things speedier here, and I only had to wait a few minutes for food to come out. As a food cart fanatic, I have a harder time paying brick-and-mortar prices for scarfable Mexican food, so just know ahead of time that it ain't food cart prices. And do you really want to skimp on seafood?

I usually have the Coastal Trio, but decided to try the shrimp enchiladas, they were GREAT!

I've been to other locations and they are consistent: Consistent slow service. At this location, they had 4 total people working and the place was half full so all orders were slow. The lady bringing the food out gave everybody a coupon for a free meal as an apology Consistent in getting my order wrong and one of my tacos was very cold and not cooked all the way The replacement taco was also made wrong (forgot the cheese) and was barely warm The rush to get the food out is obviously more important then doing it right. I'll use my freebie maybe on a salad, but doubt I'll be back

I love how fresh everything is that goes into Rubio's food! It is a special date for me and my son to go get some yummy tacos for lunch. And we go every week! I crave the gourmet shrimp tacos always!

I hope that tonight is an off night for this location. I normally love fish taco tuesday but tonight the fish wasn't so fresh and the chips were burnt. Definitely not up to normal standards for this restaurant.

Good fresh food, but the wait will make you crazy. My last visit I waited over 30 minutes for one burrito. I will be back, fish tacos call my name frequently. But never go when I am in a rush.

After going on a tour of the Salt Lake County Jail with my college law enforcement class, some classmates and I stopped at Rubio's. This was my first time, so I followed my motto "Go with what you know" and ordered the bean and cheese burrito. They made it quickly, but took a little more time to make my friend's dishes. The beans were kind of spicy! I'm not a fan of spice, but I liked this! The tortilla was pretty good! I made the mistake of dipping my burrito into a little bit of the salsa. Rubio's has the spiciest salsa that I have ever had.

The Origianl fish taco is great food at a great price. I'm usually a flour tortilla kind of girl - but the authenticity of this corn shell is a perfect melding of flavors. And there's no better way to get some healthy cabbage into my diet than to spritz it with the fresh lime on top. Thanks Rubio's!

When I lived in Orange County I both lived and worked within a block of 2 Rubios. I ate there A LOT. I LOVE their fish tacos and their chips & salsa is just right for me - don't like anything too spicy. The only problem I have is that they seem to have gone a little up in price recently - or maybe that's just a Utah thing? I used to be able to get the #1 combo & a soda for about $5.00. Now it's closer to $7.00. Very glad the Jordan Landing location is here though - hated having to drive up to Sugarhouse to satisfy a craving!

We waited 20 minutes for 2 nachos. They had no flavor. We have liked this place before, but not impressed on this visit.

It was cold, raining and late. My girlfriend and I were looking for something and thought we'd give Rubio's a try. I ordered a taco salad and apparently my idea and their idea of what constitutes a taco salad are otherworldly at best. Very little of anything was provided and the taste was almost non-existent. The good news is there was so little in the taco salad and the taste was so bland that I'm pretty sure I didn't need to spend any extra time on the elliptical machine. For future late night, cold rainy cravings, I think I'll pass on Rubio's.

I love the fish tacos. I pretty much not ever get those when we come here because I am afraid I won't like other stuff as much and it will spoil my love for Rubio's. I also love their beans a ton. They have a distinct black pepper flavor and it is super good! I remember the first time in we tried it, I thought maybe it was a mistake and someone dumped too much pepper in. I have been happy that over the years it's the same. I love this locations patio. It's enclosed completely and hardly ever has anyone out there, so it's the perfect spot for our wiggly toddler to eat without disturbing anyone.

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
